A weekly read for people who play.
One profile, one review, one setup — every Sunday. PC esports only. Slow on purpose.
bestgamers.com is a magazine-style editorial website covering the four major PC esports — League of Legends, Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, and Dota 2 — and the gear, hardware, and setups around that scene. We publish three pieces every Sunday and nothing in between. No daily news. No live coverage. No listicles.
The format
Every Sunday at 8am Eastern, three pieces go live:
- The Profile — a 1,500–2,200 word portrait of a single competitive player, coach, or figure in the PC esports world. Written in the GQ tradition of fiction-tinged magazine reporting.
- The Review — a 1,200–1,800 word hardware deep-dive on one piece of gear: keyboard, mouse, headset, monitor, chair, or related peripheral. Always includes a verdict, a score, and a critical paragraph.
- The Setup— an 800–1,200 word feature on one person’s gaming rig. The room is the protagonist; the gear is the supporting cast.
That’s 12 pieces a month. We don’t want to be Dexerto or Polygon. We want to be the place you bookmark for Sunday-morning reading.
Editorial philosophy
Most gaming media is fast, loud, and forgettable. We’re trying to make something slower, quieter, and worth keeping. The references we care about are The Verge for hardware reviews, Dexerto for esports deep-dives, and GQ for the structure of a profile.
That means: specific numbers over vague superlatives. Sentence rhythm that doesn’t read like a press release. No emoji. No clickbait. No phrase that could appear on any other gaming site without modification.
About the author
Pieces are bylined to Chloe, who runs editorial. Drafts are produced with assistance from large language models and reviewed before publication. We don’t pretend our content is “100% human-written” — it isn’t, and that’s a deliberate choice that lets us publish magazine-quality writing at a cadence we couldn’t sustain otherwise. Editorial judgment, voice, and quality bar are all human.
Profile pieces sometimes include reported scenes and quotes that are stylized rather than transcribed. Read them as the kind of fiction-tinged journalism magazines have published for fifty years — not as literal interviews. Reviews and setups are based on publicly available information about the products and rooms in question.
Monetization
The site is supported by display advertising (Google AdSense) and Amazon affiliate links on reviews. We’ve never accepted free product, sponsorship, or any other form of payment in exchange for coverage. Affiliate revenue doesn’t change what we recommend; see our privacy policy for the full disclosure.
